The Process of Die Casting

The process of high pressure die casting involves molten metal being injected with a die casting machine under force using considerable pressure into a steel mould or die to form products. The casting temperature is roughly 700͐℃ during the casting.

High pressure die casting is a competitive casting method when components have requirements which cannot be achieved by other casting processes, including:

  • High volumes and/or
  • Better tolerances and/or
  • Smooth surface finish

Change of Direction Brings Success

A world wide sales campaign by West Midlands based high class die maker 3Dimensional has significantly strengthened the company’s position in the diecasting market. The campaign led to some impressive contracts, especially in the automotive section of the market. Initially 3Dimensional serviced the aerospace and aircraft industries and was a first tier supplier to Rolls Royce. However, Managing Director Jason Callaghan decided on a change of direction and set up the pressure diecast toolmaking operation, which met with almost immediate success.
