High Class Dies

Change of Direction Brings Success

A world wide sales campaign by West Midlands based high class die maker 3Dimensional has significantly strengthened the company’s position in the diecasting market. The campaign led to some impressive contracts, especially in the automotive section of the market. Initially 3Dimensional serviced the aerospace and aircraft industries and was a first tier supplier to Rolls Royce. However, Managing Director Jason Callaghan decided on a change of direction and set up the pressure diecast toolmaking operation, which met with almost immediate success.

Backup in the form of technical support from a leading cutting tool manufacture helps to keep the company’s high  machines and four high speed machines fully operational at all times. This enables 3Dimentional to keep control of all aspects of manufacture in house, ensuring that by not being reliant on subcontractors it has total process control.

Although not solely dependant on the automotive industry, 3D has always been very much involved in this sector and it represents a major and important source of its activities. The sales team have targeted this market with several ventures into central and Eastern Europe bringing considerable success. The company has continued to extend its horizons still further and has been recently rewarded with new business in the USA and Scandinavia with the opportunity to submit quotations for work in South America. In developing its business the company has built up a strong customer base in the automotive sector. Companies supplied includ Aston Martin, Borg Warner, BMW, Dura, Ford (Germany), GM, Landrover, Nissan, Perkins, Renault, Saab, and Toyota.

hi-class-dies-2As an extension to its working operations 3D has been making a detailed study of the heat treatment facilities available in the UK and in Europe. 3D has also looked closely at the facilities provided by Kind & Co based at Wiehl, Germany and a successful working relationship has been established for sometime. The heat treatment facility at the Bohler works in Vienna has also attracted attention and as with the facilities offered by Kind & Co it is now also on 3D’s preferred heat treatment options.
