During The month of July 3Dimensional took delivery of their new large universal mill. The mill in question was a Kiheung U1000 which has a travel of 3100mm in X axis and 1250mm in Y axis with a z axis of 1500mm.
The bed has been up rated to carry loads of upto 13 tonne in weight. While the machine has plenty of scope to enable us to machine very large components the main attraction was the auto rotary head which automatically indexes to any angle required.
This enables us to machine complete bolsters/inserts in one setup reaching 3 of the four faces.
The machine has 24 tool change and has renishaw probing fitted. Another main advantage of this machine was through spindle coolant and air blast which enables clean machining on large inserts.
